I witnessed this when I was six.
Our dog and a stray male dog had somehow gotten their bottoms stuck together and were
frantically trying to run away from each other. Our dog was crying. My Daddy got a big pail of ice cold water and poured it over their bottoms. Then they got unstuck.. The male dog ran away and our dog went to her secret hiding place and kept licking herself. She was still crying and I felt sorry for her. Later she had a big batch of puppies that looked just like the stray dog.
