The New Sixpence

The New Sixpence

Sing a song of sorrow

Enough to make you cry

Four hundred Twenty Billion

Gone ...Just  blink your eye.

When the dust had settled

The crooks began to sing

We took your dough

And now it's gone

And you can't do a thing!

Our leader's in the counting house

Cleaning out the trash

Putting brand new rules in place

Just so  the world won't crash

The maid is in the garden

Spending  special hours

She replaced the bush

That once was there

With beautiful new flowers.

Sing a Song of Sixpence

BY ANONYMOUS

Sing a song of sixpence,

A pocket full of rye,

Four and twenty blackbirds

Baked in a pie.

When the pie was opened

The birds began to sing—

Wasn't that a dainty dish

To set before the king?

The king was in the counting-house

Counting out his money,

The queen was in the parlor

Eating bread and honey,

The maid was in the garden

Hanging out the clothes.

Along came a blackbird

And snipped off her nose.

The end
